Born in Wusih, Kiangsu, China, Chen Chi studied painting in the 1930's, seeking new aesthetic expression and ideals at a time when China was searching for her new life.

| message | I too have a signed Chen Chi print which I received from Sterling Press between 1972 - 1979. I don't recall the exact year. Mr. Taschen, the owner, told the sales rep that I should get it Museum grade framed since it would be of great value one day. It is a large print signed as an Artists Proof. I would say it is in perfect condition.
Do you have any idea if it is of any value? It is a Shanghai rendering. It's around 14" x 28" I believe that this was the first print printed in the United States. |
