Chen Chi (1912 - August 4, 2005) was born in Wusih, Kiangsu, China in 1912. In the 1930s he studied painting, seeking new AEsthetic expression and ideals at a time when China was searching for her new life.
His list of exhibitions and awards is extensive. By 1978 he had exhibited at the following:

- The American Academy of Arts and Letters
- The Brooklyn Museum
- Los Angeles County Museum of Art
He has received several gold medals from national annual exhibitions, and the 1955 American Watercolor Society Special Award for the Watercolor of the Year and the 99th Annual Grand Award with Gold Medal of Honor in 1996. His works are in the collections of many important museums in the country, including:
