Norman Rockwell (February 3, 1894 - November 8, 1978) was an early 20th century American painter. His works are usually considered both as patriotic and/or commercial. They have enjoyed and continue to enjoy a broad popular appeal in the United States where Rockwell is most famous for a series of covers for The Saturday Evening Post, notably those painted during the 1940s and 1950s, especially the Four Freedoms series and Rosie the Riveter
