In the current series of self portraits the welding goggles create a barrier between the subject and the viewer, resulting in questions being raised about who this person is and what the colour of the goggles represent. Welding goggles are used to protect the eyes and this is what they represent in the paintings, using colour to show the emotions the figure doesn’t want to witness. These are unique works of art in oil.
